Here we have Kit Fisto (the tentacle-headed guy) and his former padawan Nahdar Vebb chasing Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray to a remote world. Though The Clone Wars has a great roster of main characters, it’s the smaller arcs with supporting Jedi that make up some of the show’s best. It’s a tense and surprisingly moving episode, and one that showed the early promise of the idea. Commander Cody and Captain Rex have to lead a small unit of rookies through a pitched battle with droids. Dee Bradley Baker provides the voice for all of the Clones and this is his first tour de force. Much less count them among our favorite characters. While the movies had plenty of clones, without The Clone Wars, we wouldn’t care about any of them. In it, Jedi Master Yoda has to face off against would-be Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress, one of the series’ most interesting characters. But it works as a raucous and exciting starting point to the animated adventures.

We’ll discuss them in release order, but for story chronology, click here! Lucasfilm Note: the episode order of The Clone Wars is notoriously weird. Shall we dive in? (And all of these are on Disney+ of course.) There’s surprisingly very little crossover between the two lists, so I’ve melded them like a good Grey Jedi into a definitive list of 35 episodes (10 arcs and 5 standalones) as a primer. The finale fulfilled the promise of Darth Maul’s return, and he finally traded blows with Obi-Wan in a thrilling duel.We’re pretty darned excited for the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars for 12 episodes on Disney+ on February 21. It featured an episode titled “The General” that was directed by Lucas’s early collaborator Walter Murch, one of the most respected sound designers in the industry. It was a dark period reminiscent of Apocalypse Now. The season spotlighted Dooku’s betrayal of Ventress, a brutal civil conflict on the planet Mon Calamari, and a gripping storyline where Obi-Wan fakes his own death in order to go undercover with Cad Bane’s bounty hunters.įour episodes centered on the experiences of Rex and his clones under the command of the new Jedi General Pong Krell, who treats them as subhuman and eventually reveals his allegiance to the Sith.
The stories are mostly solid, although a pair of episodes dedicated to R2-D2 and C-3PO ( Anthony Daniels) felt closer to the classic Droids cartoon than the darker show that The Clone Wars had become.

The final season premiered on Disney+ last year, and definitively wrapped up Ashoka’s journey. Although it was canceled at the end of its fifth season by Cartoon Network, a sixth season debuted on Netflix. The critically derided film made a lot of fans skeptical, but thankfully the series grew into one of the most beloved entries in the entire saga. The intended first four episodes of the series were edited into a feature film, which debuted in theaters in August 2008 only months after it was announced. Ashoka became one of the most beloved characters in the entire Star Wars saga. Most importantly, the series introduced the new protagonist Ashoka Tano ( Ashley Eckstein), who became Anakin’s new apprentice. Anakin begins to show signs of his temptation to join the dark side. The Clone Wars followed the further adventures of Anakin Skywalker ( Matt Lanter) and Obi-Wan Kenobi ( James Arnold Taylor) as they adjusted to their new roles as Republic Generals.
